In honor of the month of Shevat, Chabad of Encino's Jewish Women's Circle enjoyed a wonderful evening with renowned Chef, Sam Garelik ("the kosher girl") for a hands on cooking demonstration using the freshest natural ingredients. Chef Sam presented a delicious food tasting buffet, and shared fantastic recipes and practical tips, encouraging healthy cooking and eating, whilst creating delicious and gourmet kosher meals!
A wonderful time was had by all!

The Menachem Institute hosted a lecture by Izzy Ezagui. The audience fell in love with him immediately... his delivery... his love of Israel... his sacrifice... his devotion... his perseverance... his heroism... his wonderful sense of humor earned him a standing ovation. You could have heard a pin drop in the room as his message penetrated the hearts of the attendees.
He shared his journey over the past five years in the IDF, as well as his reserve service during Operation Pillar of Defense. He also shared what brought him to volunteer and then return to combat after a serious injury. He told his story in a fashion that allowed people to laugh during the darkest moments.

Thousands attended Chabad of the Valley’s Chanukah at CityWalk event, featuring Eli Gerstner and the Yeshiva Boys Choir, Moshe Hecht and much more.
Chabad’s Chanukah at CityWalk has become an annual fixture on the L.A. calendar and is known to be the largest Chanukah celebration on the West; but Larry Kurzweil, President of Universal Studios Hollywood went a step further this year, proclaiming that this event had perhaps earned its place amongst “the largest Chanukah events in the world.”

On Sunday, 21 Kislev, November 24, a new Sefer Torah was dedicated to Chabad of Encino in loving memory of Rebbitzen Miriam Gordon, ob'm. The Torah was dedicated by a broad spectrum of the community and as hundreds joined in the celebrations.
Rebbitzen Miriam Gordon dedicated her entire life to the Rebbe and to his Shlichus as she and her husband Rabbi Sholom B Gordon, ob'm were the Rebbe's Shluchim for more than 50 years. Rebbitzen Gordon touched the lives of so many and left more than 200 descendants, many of whom are Shluchim of the Rebbe the world over.

On Monday evening, August 26, the community gathered at Bocca Steakhouse in Encino, to support the scholarship programs of Chabad-Gan Israel. The event featured comedic performances by Wayne Cotter, Rob Cait and Danny Jacobson. The event helped raise much needed funds for scholarship assistance to the many beneficiaries of The Finder Family Camp Gan Israel, The Ryzman Family Hebrew School as well as the Rabbi Moshe and Ruty Weiss Early Childhood Center and others.
Celebration 40 - Ruby Anniversary
On Tuesday, June 6, Chabad of the Valley celebrated its Banquet-Concert 2013 commemorating 40 years of service to the greater Valley community.
The event included the motivating and moving words of Dr. George Fischmann and Rona Ram; and wonderful video about Chabad, showcasing the visions of Hector Guerrero and Project 101 and Daniel Aharonoff, followed by an amazing performance by the The Piamenta Quartet, featuring renowned pianist Rambam in concert -- and much more.
The highlight of the evening was Michael Medved, whose brilliant and inspiring words were captivating and compelling! Surely, this was an evening that will be remembered forever.

Some 150 people gathered at The Menachem Institute in Tarzana to hear an inspiring and thought-proving talk by Mrs. Devorie Krieman titled The Power of Faith, Humor & Joy. When life hands you lemons and even the lemonade tastes bitter.

Author, counselor and lecturer, Rabbi Shais Taub of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania uses wit, wisdom and his immense research on addiction and psychological dependence, as he captivated the spellbound audience.
Rabbi Taubs lecture was titled You Ruined My Life! The spiritual art of healing old emotional pain and letting go of resentments.

Hundreds of people gathered at the beautiful Chabad of Encino Campus to commemorate the Shloshim observance marking 30 days since the passing of Rebbetzin Miriam Gordon, of blessed memory.
The evening was emceed by Rabbi Yehoshua B. Gordon who spoke about his Mother's unique attitude of "doing what must be done."
The "star of the show" was Rabbi Gordon's sister, Mrs. Bluma Rivkin, daughter of Rebbetzin Gordon, in whose home Rebbetzin Gordon lived for the past year and a half. She held the audience spellbound as she described her Mother's unique values and principals.
A new Sefer Torah was begun and will G-d willing be dedicated to the Chabad of Encino Shul.

The children of Chabad of Tarzana and Encino enjoyed a fun evening of bowling on Saturday night December 22nd. The evening was topped off with a pizza dinner followed by the children reciting Torah Pesukim.

Chabad of the Valley's annual Chanukah @ CityWALK had one of its largest crowds yet with many thousands in attendance. For 3 hours, from 6:00 till 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, the second night of Chanukah, Universal Studios CityWalk was transformed into a “Chanuka Wonderland” with a vast array of entertainment, face painters, arts and crafts and kosher food including Kosher sushi.
City of Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, The President of Universal Studios Hollywood, Mr. Larry Kurzweil and Israeli Consul-General David Siegel were honored with lighting the giant Menorah, accompanied by child actor David Mazouz.

Chabad of the Valley celebrated the culmination of its raffle campaign benefiting the Chabad’s - Gan Israel scholarship fund, at The Mark for events.
The event featured a special performance by Illusionist Ivan Imodei, and his award winning show Ultimate Illusions! The event also featured Choni G who serenated the assembled with his melodious voice.

Some 1,000 people from all walks of life gathered at Chabad of the Valley Headquarters in Tarzana on Wednesday evening, to observe the 18th Yahrzeit of the Rebbe. Rabbi Mendel Lipskar of Johannesburg, South Africa was the guest speaker.
People listened intently and spellbound as Rabbi Lipskar, Executive Director of Chabad of South Africa, and Rabbi of the Shul @ Hyde Park, regaled the audience with stories, lessons and anecdotes about the Rebbe and his leadership of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement. A full dinner was served.
The Farbrengen was once again generously sponsored by Gary and Rochelle Finder and Family and the Finder Family Educational Center.

Chabad of the Valley celebrated its entrance into the 40th Year with a great turnout at its Annual Gala Banquet-Concert at the Teichman Family Social Hall in Tarzana. Highlighting the event was an amazing video on the 45 Anniversary of the liberation of Jerusalem during the Six Day War. The crowd also enjoyed the brilliant performance of child-prodigy Ethan Bortnick in Concert.

Many joined the Grand Purim Celebration at Chabad of Tarzana. Children and adults dressed in costume, brought the house down as they twirled groggers of all sorts during the Megillah reading. Was truly a lot of fun!!!!!!!!
